ZAGREB, March 28 (Hina) - Four Serb organizations held a joint
meeting in Zagreb on Thursday and established an alliance.
The alliance, including the "Prosvjeta" cultural society,
the Serb Democratic Forum, the Serb community of Rijeka and the
Serb community of Western Slavonia, elected Milorad Pupovac as
their president.
Zoran Stankovic, president of the interim presidency, said
that the main aim of the Alliance was to "redifine the position
of Serbs in Croatia, their status, identity and national
organization, and reintegrate them into Croatian society."
"The Alliance of Serb organizations is a non-governmental
and non-party organization of the Serbs in Croatia. Its
establishment was encouraged by the need for democratic and
pluralist actitivities of the Serbs in Croatia," he said.
Stankovic said that the Alliance was also open to other
organizations as its aim was to incorporate all Serb
organizations in Croatia.
The Alliance would also try to develop its own educational,
cultural and research institutions in Croatia, he added.
