SARAJEVO, Feb 6 (Hina) - Croatian policemen had to leave the
Sarajevo suburb of Hadzici this morning after receiving an
ultimatum from the Implementation Force. According to Kiseljak-
based police superintendent Mladen Tolo, 20 Croatian policemen had
set out to join the Croat-Moslem patrols which were to police the
Sarajevo neighbourhoods reintegrated back into the Federation. But
they were not allowed to do so.
The Kiseljak police department yesterday asked
international police officials to issue Croatian policemen with
credentials which would enable them to perform their duties, but
this request was denied.
"All we wanted was for our police to be included in the
transfer of authority and to take part in the policing of Sarajevo
neighbourhoods in accordance with the Bosnian Federation Internal
Affairs Act," Tolo said.
He stressed that the police force currently patrolling the
Sarajevo neighbourhoods consisted only of Moslems.
Following the withdrawal of Croat police forces, Bosnian
Moslem police took over control of the Hadzici area in cooperation
with IFOR and international police forces this morning.
