"The reason has prevailed. This is a compromise which can
satisfy every honest man," Brajkovic said, adding that it was now
"particularly important to decrease tensions".
Speaking of full freedom of movement for all, due to take
effect on Tuesday he called the citizens to "behave decently."
"The freedom of movement is meant for all of the Federation.
Mostar simply cannot be viewed separately. How could we return the
people in Mostar, when around 16,000 people from central Bosnia are
already in the city," he said, adding it should be secured that the
return is safe and voluntary.
He also added that the negotiations with the European Union's
administration might now resume.
Questioned on the united city police force, also due to start
functioning on Tuesday, Brajkovic said that the force would "create
confidence and security, and open traffic lines."
Speaking of the extension of the EU mandate in the city,
Brajkovic said it had been suggested that the mandate be extended
for another year, but Croat side insisted on a six-month term.
The reporters were also shown the new central zone map, agreed
in Rome. The zone encompassed several landmark downtown buildings,
such as the old city hospital, sports hall and the Gymnasium.
