VIENNA, Jan 31 (Hina) - At OSCE offices in Vienna, during a session
dedicated to humanitarian situation in Croatia, Croatian
President's advisor on humanitarian issues, Dr. Slobodan Land, gave
a report on an action aimed at care for alone elderly people in the
recently liberated Croatian areas.
The action taken by Croatian and international relief
agencies, began on October 6, 1995, by decree of the Croatian
President Franjo Tudjman. It refers to a project for improving, by
organized and planned work, the humanitarian and human rights'
situation in the areas in question after last summer's liberating
operation "Storm".
Dr. Lang told the session that 70 percent of registered
elderly people in those areas were Serbs and 30 per cent Croats.
The session was attended by OSCE (Organization for Security
and Cooperation in Europe) member-countries' ambassadors who showed
great interest in Lang's report and approved it. Several countries
asked how they could be included into the project and help it
financially.
