Addressing the Council of Europe session of the parliamentary
assembly on Tuesday, Swiss foreign minister and current head of the
OSCE, Flavio Cotti, said the Dayton accords might be implemented
only provided the stability and confidence prevailed throughout the
region.
Therefore, "we need not only the mission in Bosnia", but
another one in Croatia as well, "which (idea), I hope, would be
accepted soon," Cotti said.
The mission should assist in the peaceful reintegration of the
eastern Slavonia, Baranja and western Srijem area.
OSCE's basic task in Bosnia -- all of its territory --was to
prepare and oversee the free and democratic election.
"The mission OSCE is to accomplish in Bosnia-Herzegovina is
certainly the biggest challenge in the post-war Europe," Cotti
said.
OSCE was also to oversee the protection of human rights, the
arms control and measures for confidence building.
