OSIJEK, Sept 8 (Hina) - Water supply systems in the Osijek suburbs of
Sarvas and Klisa in the UN-administered part of eastern Croatia were
connected to the Osijek waterworks on Monday.
Attending today's event were Osijek Mayor Zlatko Kramaric, deputy
head of UNTAES' civil affairs Fedor Klincuk, and other representatives of
local authorities.
Today's event was the result of efforts to normalize living in the said
suburbs, said Osijek Mayor Kramaric, adding this was of special importance
to returnees.
Recalling that an agreement on the reintegration of the water supply
system in Croatia's Danube region was signed in May this year, UNTAES'
Klincuk said he was satisfied with cooperation between the Croat and Serb
sides within a joint water supply system implementation board.
According to Slobodan Jovicic, assistant manager at the Centre for
the Reconstruction and Development of the Danube Region, a Norwegian
council for refugees invested DM 700,000 in the reconstruction of the
waterworks in the Danube region.
