OSIJEK, Aug 21 (Hina) - Deputy Presidential Chief of Staff Vesna
Skare-Ozbolt and Assistant Interior Minister Josko Moric on
Thursday visited Osijek County where they met County Prefect
Branimir Glavas and representatives of the Union of Displaced
Persons for talks on the progress of peaceful reintegration of
the UN-administered Danube river region into Croatia, the
functioning of newly-elected local government bodies and the
return of displaced persons.
Also discussed was the security situation in the region and
measures aimed at stepping up the return process. It was said
that the replacement of UNTAES military personnel with members
of the Transitional Police Force at checkpoints on September 1
would facilitate the return of displaced persons and contribute
to the normalisation of life in the region.
