ZAGREB, 24 June (Hina) - The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) presidential candidate Franjo Tudjman has won 15 June presidential elections, the president of the Election Commission Ivan Mrkonjic told a press conference Tuesday.
ZAGREB, 24 June (Hina) - The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) presidential candidate Franjo Tudjman has won 15 June presidential elections, the president of the Election Commission Ivan Mrkonjic told a press conference Tuesday. #L# Tudjman won 1.337,990 votes (61.41%), the Social-Democratic Party candidate Zdravko Tomac won 458,172 votes or 21.03%, while the presidential candidate of nine opposition parties Vladimir Gotovac won 382,630 votes (17.56%). Out of a total of 4.061,479 registered voters, 2.218,448 voters went to the polls, Mrkonjic said, adding that there were 39,656 invalid ballots. The Election Commission had successfully carried out its duty. There had been no incidents during the voting, Mrkonjic said and thanked all voters in Croatia and abroad. (hina) rm 241401 MET jun 97
