THREE CRO RAILWAYS UNIONS PRESENT REQUESTS FOR FUTURE GOVT

ZAGREB, Dec 22 (Hina) - Three Croatian railway unions - the Union of Croatian Railway Infrastructure (SIHZ), Union of Croatian Engine Drivers (SSH), and the Union of Croatian Railway Workers (SZH) on Wednesday presented their demands toward the future government, which is to be constituted after the January elections. The unions' list is headed by social demands, including the humanisation work, salary increases, obligatory company subsidised hot meals, and enabling railway workers to pay off flats over which they have tenancy rights, SIHZ president Darko Pavicevic told reporters today. The unionists seek investments into the development and modernisation of the Croatian Railways (HZ) as well as the adoption of regulations which would enable the HZ to have a larger share in goods transport. The three unions also request the beginning of HZ's privatisation. According to SHZ president Darko Peric

Pericic added the biggest challenge the HZ was facing was job classification, which could result in a high redundancy rate. (hina) rml
