BRUSSELS, Dec 6 (Hina) - Preparations forthe European Union summit in Helsinki is the central topic of a regular session of the European Union foreign ministers which started in Brussels on Monday, under the chairmanship of Finnish
Minister Tarja Halonen. As a part of the agenda, the Ministers should also discuss several issues regarding relations with Croatia. It was announced that the European Union Council of Minister would reiterate their expectations regarding the upcoming elections in Croatia, namely that the elections would be held in line with European democratic standards. They would also point to its significance for the development of future relations between the European Union and Croatia. The Council of Minister should also discuss the issue of extending the autonomous regime of trade privileges for the next period. Monday, under the chairmanship of Finnish Minister Tarja Halonen.
