OSIJEK-ERDUT RAILWAY LINE OSIJEK, Dec 15 (Hina) - After more than eight years, on Wednesday traffic resumed along on the Osijek-Erdut railway line, eastern Croatia. The traffic along this railroad discontinues in June 1991 during the
Serb aggression against this part of Croatia. During the Homeland War, 1.5 kilometres of this line were completely demolished, and they had to be rebuilt. The value of construction works is three million kuna (400,000 US dollars). On Wednesday, present at the ceremony of the first departure of a train from Osijek to Erdut after eight years, were an assistant to Croatia's Transport Minister, Marijan Klaric, the Croatian Rails (HZ) Director-General Dragutin Subat, Osijek-Baranja County Prefect Branimir Glavas and local authorities. Voicing satisfaction with the return of this railroad in the HZ net, Subat announced that at the coming weekend a railway line "Sisak-Jasenovac-Novska" would reopen

Prefect Glavas described the resumption of the traffic along the
Osijek-Erdut railway line as the confirmation of how much the
peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danube river area had been
successful.
During Wednesday's ceremony a representative of Croatia's De-
mining Centre presented Subat with a certificate on the removal of
mines from the 5.5-kilometre-long section "Nemetin-Sarvas" of that
railway line.
