STRASBOURG, Dec 2 (Hina) - Croatia's permanent representative at the Council of Europe, Vladimir Matek, on Thursday handed to Council of Europe Secretary-General Walter Schwimmer documents on the acceptance of a European agreement on
persons involved in proceedings before the Strasbourg-based European Court of Human Rights. The agreement, the regulations of which go into force for Croatia on February 1, 2000, guarantee certain immunity and other rights to persons who have initiated proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights. Those rights include free oral contacts and unobstructed correspondence with court representatives. Similar rights are guaranteed to lawyers as well as to their assistants representing persons in court proceedings as well as to witnesses and expert witnesses.(hina) rml
