288 CROATS FROM KOSOVO TRANSPORTED TO CROATIA

ZAGREB, Oct 30 (Hina) - Two Croatia Airlines aeroplanes landed in Zagreb Saturday, carrying 288 Croats from Vrnavkol and Letnica in Kosovo, the Croatian Reconstruction, Development and Immigration Ministry said in a statement. Due to dangers Croats in Kosovo were facing, and pressures by local extremists, Croat representatives from Letnica and Vrnavkol sent a letter to Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on September 10, asking him to help them and make it possible for them to move to Croatia. Through the cooperation of ministries, primarily the Croatian Foreign Ministry, which had the task to make connections with the international community in Kosovo, and the Reconstruction and Development Ministry, which organised the transport, the transferral of all Croats who wished so, from Kosovo to Croatia has been organised, after them having spent the past 697 years in that region.
