SARAJEVO, Oct 27 (Hina) - Nearly 1,000 houses and apartments and more than several hundred business facilities have been sold in Sarajevo in the first nine months of 1999, and it was mostly Serbs and Croats who sold their property before leaving the town, the Sarajevo-based "Oslobodjenje" daily said. #L# According to official data, 502 houses, 480 apartments, 111 cottages, 377 business facilities, 321 garages and 827 plots of land have been sold since the beginning of 1999. The buyers are mostly Bosniaks whereas those selling their property are mostly Serbs and Croats. There are some rather peculiar names among those buying property. The daily writes about a Milena Sakota, who sold the whole of her property, including a house, a cowshed and a plot of land, to a person named Mmalzemel Wyjhaallarz. The small Jewish community in Sarajevo, who remained in the city during the siege, are also selling their property. Six Jewish families sold their apartments and left Sarajevo this year. The daily says Sarajevans are leaving the town faced with poor opportunities in the country. (hina) mm rml
