The ambassador issued a statement in which he expressed hope that conflicts and bloodshed would soon cease in his home country.
"I myself and the embassy (in Sarajevo) put ourselves at the disposal of the National Transitional Council, hoping that peace, democracy and progress will rule in our Libya," the statement reads.
A group of Libyans on Monday raided the compound of the Libyan embassy in Sarajevo and replaced the flag of Jamahiriya, the symbol of that northern African country during the rule of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, with the flag of the Libyan kingdom which has been reinstated by the rebels.
After that, Ambassador Finnir left the building, while the protesters asked the Bosnian authorities to deny him hospitality.
The Bosnian tripartite presidency has not yet decided to recognise the NTC as the leadership of Libya.
