Jamahiriya flag removed from Libyan embassy in Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, Aug 22 (Hina) - A group of Libyans on Monday raided the compound of the Libyan embassy in Sarajevo and replaced the flag of Jamahiriya, the symbol of that northern African country during the rule of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, with the flag of the Libyan kingdom which has been reinstated by the rebels.

The embassy staff is loyal to the Gaddafi regime.

The Sarajevo media quoted eye-witnesses as saying that a dozen of people entered the embassy's compound, took down the Jamahiriya flag and tore down a photo of Gaddafi.

There were no injuries in the incident. The embassy personnel were not available for comment.

The police guarding the embassy building did not intervene.
