SARAJEVO, June 3 (Hina) - Bosnia-Herzegovina has so far received 5.28 billion dollars of donations aimed at the reconstruction of this war-stricken country. Until the end of 1998, 2.4 billion were invested in the Croat-Moslem entity

Until the end of 1998, 2.4 billion were invested in the Croat-Moslem
entity (the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina), said the Moslem
member of Bosnia's three-man presidency, Alija Izetbegovic.
Answering question of readers of the Sarajevo-based daily "Dnevni
Avaz, Izetbegovic explained for which purposes donations were
spent.
Most money - 373 million dollars - was used for the strengthening of
the Federation's macroeconomic frame and for the support of the
fiscal reform.
The reconstruction of the electric power system needed 337 million
dollars, whereas the reconstruction of industry used 302 million.
For the renovation of houses and flats 296 million dollars were
used, whereas the costs of the reconstruction of the
infrastructure, railway lines and airports totalled 188 million
dollars.
The water management used 186 million, social welfare 130 million ,
education, 127 million and the public health got 124 million
dollars.
In this context, Izetbegovic pointed to the problem of the
insufficient efforts of the Bosnian joint bodies which thwarted the
speedy implementation of the donated means. This Moslem politician
also complained about donors' insistence on certain procedures
before they could ensure means.
He added that although this assistance had been considerable, it
was sufficient only to cover urgent needs in above-mentioned fields
of economy and the public life of Bosnia.
War damage which Bosnia suffered is at least 100 billion dollars, he
assessed.
