WESTENDORP IN FAVOUR OF HOLDING BOSNIA DONORS' CONFERENCE

SARAJEVO, May 11 (Hina) - The International High Representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Carlos Westendorp, will recommend the holding of donors' conference which should approve the last big instalment of the international financial assistance to Bosnia's reconstruction. However, the final decision on this matter will be made by the executive committee of the peace implementation council, a spokeswoman for the High Representative's Office (OHR), said on Tuesday The decision of that committee is expected to be taken during a session which commenced today in Brussels, whereas the High Representative Westendorp will recommend the holding of the donors' conference assessing that some of important conditions for it have been met. "The picture is still mixed, the OHR spokeswoman, Alexandra Stiglmayer said explaining that Bosnia's local authorities had been expected to fulfil a relatively long list of conditions. She said the development had been noticed in accomplishing six set aims, and added that the OHR was just a one factor that would take part in the final decision. Even if the means are approved by the end of May, they will be given under a special procedure in which it will be important whether certain parties are meeting demands set by the international community. Means can always be re-allocated to the side which is more co- operative, Stiglmayer said. The World Bank and the European Union, that are the organisers of the event, will announce the formal decision. Bosnia is expecting to get at least 850 million dollars as a donation for its reconstruction. (hina) ms
