BONN BONN, April 1 (Hina) - The European Union conference on the Balkans focusing on political measures which need to be taken to stabilise the crisis in the region after NATO strikes against the Federal Republic of Croatia, and on
the humanitarian help needed by Kosovo refugees, began in Bonn on Thursday. The conference, which will mainly focus on preventing a humanitarian catastrophe in Kosovo, gathers foreign ministers of the European Troika -- Germany, Austria and Finland, as well as their colleagues from countries on the 'first line', that is, countries bordering with FR Yugoslavia and are feeling direct or indirect consequences of NATO strikes. Invited to the conference were the foreign ministers of Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Albania, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Slovenia. Also participating are European commissioners Emma Bonino and Hans van den Broek, chairman of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation
