ZAGREB, Nov 24 (Hina) - Zvonimir Separovic, the Croatian
Victimological Society head and his five 'aides' conducted a
bizarre performance carrying out live geese which should symbolise
the six parties in the Croatian ruling coalition on the road towards
Europe.
The performance of 'geese in the fog' was made after the end of the a
protest rally staged by a war veteran organisation in Zagreb
against the arrival of Yugoslav President at the Summit in the
Croatian capital.
Being greeted by the most persistent protesters, Separovic and his
five collaborators hanged a poster with the name of one of the six
coalition parties around the neck of each goose, and headed towards
the police who stood at the boundary of the security zone
established for the protection of today's Summit.
"These geese are flying to Europe," Separovic said over the
loudspeaker. Separovic was a former foreign minister, ambassador
to the United Nations and justice minister while the Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ) ruled the country.
Quoting Stjepan Radic, a Croatian political leader between the two
World Wars, Separovic claimed that during today's meeting Croatia
had singed a document which was a precedent and which showed that
"the incumbent authorities are hurtling like geese in the fog."
"We are against Croatia's entry into Balkan associations. Croatia
is a European country and wants to remain independent and unite with
Europe," Separovic asserted.
After his speech, protesters moved closer towards policemen
singing the national anthem, and dispersed shortly before 04.00 pm
as it started raining.
Today's protest rally, organised by the main headquarters for the
protection of the Homeland defence War's dignity, gathered some 500
participants, although organisers announced a few days ago that
some ten thousand people from all parts of Croatia would come in
Zagreb for this purpose.
