ZAGREB, Oct 27 (Hina) - Some 70 members of the Croatian Teachers' Union 'Preporod' gathered on Friday in front of the Education Ministry in Zagreb for a protest rally, dissatisfied with the fact that the salaries of secondary school
teachers were lower than those of primary school teachers. The rally will move in front of the government building later in the day. The union leader Vinko Filipovic said the protesters had requested Prime Minister Ivica Racan to meet them but had not received any answer yet. Assistant Education Minister Ivan Vavra joined the protesters briefly and said the government would prepare an analysis of salaries in the public sector for its next session, when it would try to correct the difference. Also participating in the rally are union representatives from Split.(hina) rml
