GOVT SENDS PARLIAMENT DRAFT CHANGES TO LAW ON EXECUTION OF BUDGET

ZAGREB, Sept 21 (Hina) - The Croatian government forwarded to the Sabor a draft on changes to the Law on the Execution of the State Budget for 2000 on Thursday. According to the draft, the Sabor would authorise the Government to seek loans on the money market amounting to up to five billion kuna as compensation for the revenue which should have been realised from the second stage of privatisation of the Croatian Telekom. A total of 8.2 billion kuna should have been added to this year's budget from privatisation. The second stage in the privatisation of the Croatian Telekom was to account for the largest part of that amount, however, as the process was postponed for the next year, a loan is necessary to bridge a gap in the budget. The government also forwarded to parliament a bill according to which the government would continue exercising the right to regulate some issues from the jurisdiction of the House of Representatives. However, this right would be significantly limited and it would be exercised only in cases when the Sabor is not is session, i.e., between June 30 and September 15, and December 15 and January 15.
