CROATIAN NAVY VOLUNTEERS: SOLDIERS' PROBLEMS SHOULD BE SOLVED IN LINE WITH LAW

ZAGREB, Sept 17 (Hina) - The Association of Croatian Navy Volunteers (UDHRM) has called on all Homeland War soldiers to support normal communication and dialogue with democratically elected bodies of authority. "Ultimatums, open threats and calls (for soldiers) to take up weapons represent a direct attack on the dignity of Croatian soldiers," the association said in a statement on Sunday. The bodies of the law-based state, particularly police and judiciary, must not stand under any pressure, and they have to carry out their tasks in the spirit of the Constitution and law, the statement read. Radicalisation and dramatising is not acceptable nor are attempts at manipulating the public out of selfish and political reasons," the statement read. Homeland War soldiers do not need extra-institutional solutions, but good cooperation with legal representatives of the Croatian authority so that current misunderstandings with a smaller part of soldiers could be solved in Croatia's interest, the statement read.
