ZAGREB, June 29 (Hina) - The Croatian Union of Workers in Power Industry (HES) has requested the government to remove from the agenda of its Friday session a debate on the strategy of Croatia's power industry development because a
public debate about that issue has not taken place. The Union believes the government should not hold this debate before autumn, until when a public discussion should take place. Otherwise, no one, including the Union, will be able to guarantee social truce at the Croatian Power Industry (HEP), which could jeopardise the tourist season, HES president Dubravko Corak told reporters on Thursday. The Union also demands the replacement of First Deputy Prime Minister Goran Granic from the office of president of the HEP Supervisory Board because it holds him responsible for excluding unions and the overall public from debates on the future of Croatia's power industry. The Union believes the government should not hold this debate

The Union also demands the replacement of First Deputy Prime
Minister Goran Granic from the office of president of the HEP
Supervisory Board because it holds him responsible for excluding
unions and the overall public from debates on the future of
Croatia's power industry.
"The strategy of power development cannot be in the hands of only
one man, but is to be judged by HEP employees and the general public
as well," Corak said.
