WAR VETERANS MINISTER HAS DOCUMENTS ON IRREGULARITIES IN WORK OF MINISTRY

ZAGREB, June 27 (Hina) - Croatian Deputy Minister of Homeland War Veterans, Josip Vdovic, on Tuesday said the ministry could make evidence on irregularities in its work public while the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ ) had been in power, but it would announce it only after the finance police finished its work regarding the matter. Vdovic told the Croatian national parliament's House of Counties that Minister Ivica Pancic had addressed the State Attorney's Office, the States Prosecutor's Office and Interior Ministry, after the State Audit presented findings of its review in the Homeland War Veterans Ministry. "Minister Pancic possesses documents on the irregularities in the ministry's work, but he does not want to make them public until the finance police finish their job," Vdovic told the upper house. The Sabor's House of Counties was notified of a report on the enforcement of the law on war veterans' rights in 1999 and asked that responsibility be established of those who failed to fulfil their commitments regarding war veterans' rights. MPs asked the Government to submit a report on the work of this ministry in the first half of this year and a report of the State Audit of the ministry's business operations in 1998 and 1999.
