ZAGREB, June 15 (Hina) - A two-day conference on the oil and gas
transport to European and international markets began in Zagreb on
Thursday.
The conference on a project called Inogate has been attended by
representatives of Croatia, the European Union and other nine
countries.
Through the Inogate project, the EU provides technical assistance
for countries that take part in this programme. In the last three
years the means spent for this purpose totalled about 50 million
euro, said Fausil Bensarsa, the European Commission official in the
Inogate.
Our aim is to continue negotiations between countries covered by
the project and the European Commission, and we are now entering the
second stage at which we should assist central and eastern European
countries, particularly Croatia, Bensarsa added.
The Inogate programme is an element of the EU's bids to help develop
the stability in the region, but it is also significant as an
alternative direction for the provision of power supplies for the
continental Europe, said Per Vinther, the EU Ambassador to
Croatia.
