ZAGREB, Oct 10 (Hina) - The credentials and privileges commission
moved to parliament on Wednesday stripping of immunity Boris
Kandare and Anto Djapic of the opposition's Party of Rights (HSP)
and Branimir Glavas of the opposition's Croatian Democratic Union
(HDZ).
The HSP deputies are suspects in the forging of Djapic's master's
thesis. Djapic himself today requested the commission to strip him
of immunity. Parliament today verified a decision terminating
Kandare's mandate due to his retirement.
The HDZ's Glavas is suspected of abusing powers in the
privatisation of Glas Slavonije daily.
Parliament will tackle today's proposals during its current
sitting.
The State Prosecutor's Office has requested parliament to strip of
immunity Drago Krpina and Ivic Pasalic of the HDZ so that they may
testify in an investigation into the privatisation of Slobodna
Dalmacija daily.
The strongest opposition party maintains the requests for
stripping their prominent members of immunity is legally
groundless. The HDZ says the requests are politically motivated in
view of discrediting the party.
