ZAGREB, Sept 29 (Hina) - Croatian Interior Minister Sime Lucin, attending a police field-day Saturday, commented on MP Branimir Glavas' refusal to attend an informative conversation as part of a police investigation, saying he
obviously intends to create a circus out of it. "I am surprised Glavas, as a Croatian Democratic Union MP who voted for the Bill on criminal proceedings, and as a lawyer, doesn't know the invitation he received as a citizen was typical and follows the letter of the law," Lucin said. Glavas has refused to attend an informative conversation in regard to alleged war crimes in Osijek during the 1991-1992 period and murder of the Osijek chief of police Josip Reihl-Kir, calling on his MP immunity. ZAGREB, Sept 29 (Hina) - Croatian Interior Minister Sime Lucin,
attending a police field-day Saturday, commented on MP Branimir
Glavas' refusal to attend an informative conversation as part of a
police investigation, saying he obviously intends to create a
circus out of it.
"I am surprised Glavas, as a Croatian Democratic Union MP who voted
for the Bill on criminal proceedings, and as a lawyer, doesn't know
the invitation he received as a citizen was typical and follows the
letter of the law," Lucin said.
Glavas has refused to attend an informative conversation in regard
to alleged war crimes in Osijek during the 1991-1992 period and
murder of the Osijek chief of police Josip Reihl-Kir, calling on his
MP immunity.
The Interior Ministry answered the claim by saying his immunity
doesn't apply to preliminary investigation, which Glavas labelled
"a misinformation aimed at placating the public".
Lucin also commented on the Bosnian Muslim-Croat Federation
Interior Minister Muhamed Besic's retraction of his previous
statement about the extradition of a Rijeka car-bombing suspect,
Hasan Al Sharif, to Croatia. Besic said he had only been "provoking
his Croatian counterpart" because Croatia had failed to go through
with extradition Besic had asked for a few times.
Lucin explained cases Besic had been referring to were the cases of
two Croatian citizens, who could not be extradited because the
Croatian Constitution does not allow it, except in cases of
extradition of war crimes suspects to the Hague tribunal.
Hasan Al Sharif is wanted by Croatia as a suspect in a Rijeka
terrorist attack in 1995, but will be extradited to Egypt, where he
is also wanted.
