ZAGREB, Sept 27 (Hina) - The State Judicial Council (DSV) on Thursday decided by a majority vote to strip the president of the Bjelovar County Court, Vladimir Gredelj, of immunity for suspicion of abuse of office and authority. The
DSV also decided to start criminal proceedings against Gredelj. The motion to strip Gredelj of immunity had been submitted by State Prosecutor Radovan Ortynski. Gredelj, who is also the president of the Croatian Judges' Association, is suspected of two crimes, abuse of office and authority and encouraging others to abuse authority. According to a brief statement by DSV president Stanko Hautz, the State Prosecutor's Office suspected that Gredelj had abused his authority regarding insurance. Gredelj is also suspected of illegaly purchasing a painting which he later gave to the then Justice Minister Miroslav Separovic.
