SETTLERS URGE CRO GOVT TO INTENSIFY BIDS TO SOLVE THEIR HOUSING PROBLEMS

KNIN, Aug 17 (Hina) - An association of Bosnian Croat and Kosovo Croat refugees and other persons who have settled Croatia's areas of the special state concern expects from the incumbent Croatian government to intensify bids to solve their housing problems. The association (ZUNH) urges the current authorities to step up its efforts in this field in order to avoid undesirable situations such are now in the town of Vojnic or in other areas of the special state concern. According to a statement the association issued on Friday, "the Croatian government should react upon the composition and manner of work of local housing commissions, as most of these bodies have not yet been formed, neither do they function in accordance with the situation on the ground..." In this context the association claims that some local housing commissions "are set up in line with the political suitability, which aggravates the situation." The association announced it would propose to the Social Welfare and Labour Ministry the settlement of the problem of pensions which retirees had earned in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
