ZAGREB, July 15 (Hina) - Just 10 minutes after its start, Sunday's session of the Croatian parliament was adjourned for one hour as the bench of the strongest opposition party - the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) - asked for a break.

ZAGREB, July 15 (Hina) - Just 10 minutes after its start, Sunday's
session of the Croatian parliament was adjourned for one hour as the
bench of the strongest opposition party - the Croatian Democratic
Union (HDZ) - asked for a break.
At the beginning of the sitting, Sabor Speaker Zlatko Tomcic said
benches of five parties, which make up the ruling coalition, had
withdrawn their motion that a single discussion be held on two
issues - the motion for confidence in the government and the
relations between Croatia and UN war crimes tribunal (ICTY),
suggesting that the first topic to be discussed should be the
confidence vote.
Being notified with this proposal, HDZ parliamentarians
protested.
HDZ President Ivo Sanader said that on Friday the ruling coalition
had insisted that the two issues be discussed together, giving no
explanation for such proposal, and now MPs from the ruling parties
gave up the proposal, again with no explanation.
What is the purpose of this stalling game, wondered Sanader, who
supported the idea that the discussions should be held separately,
but he asked for a one-hour break for his bench to prepare itself.
The sitting was attended by members of a war veteran association
called the headquarters for the protection of the Homeland War's
dignity. They applauded Sanader's speech, and after that Tomcic
politely asked them to follow the continuation of the session
without expressing fans' passions.
The session is to be resumed at about 11.00 am.
