BELGRADE, July 29 (Hina) - Serbia's state bodies will request the Hague war crimes tribunal's permission to prosecute persons indicted by the tribunal in Yugoslavia, a senior official of the Democratic Party and adviser to the
Yugoslav Interior Minister, Goran Vesic, said on Friday. Yugoslavia "has shown the power and the will to cooperate with the international community" and will for this reason insist on trials held at home, Vesic told reporters. Asked if Serbia's President Milan Milutinovic would be surrendered to the Hague tribunal, Vesic said the authorities in Serbia and Yugoslavia "do not intend extraditing him." He did not, however, exclude the possibility. He could not corroborate reports about the extradition of Milan Martic and Mile Mrksic, former Croatian Serb rebel leaders.(hina) ha sb
