ZAGREB, May 24 (Hina) - Changes to the Family Act narrow down the range of relatives who can marry each other, which is in line with similar acts in European countries and which existed earlier in the Croatian legislation, Labour and
Welfare Minister Davorko Vidovic said in parliament on Thursday. However, the minister said not all regulations had been adjusted to European laws and the European Convention of the Protection of Human Rights. He also announced new changes to the law "once conditions have been created." The changes would refer, among else, to the establishment of special court departments for the family law. The current bill precisely defines domestic violence and provides a possibility for police court proceedings in case of domestic violence. The duration of the procedure for establishing paternity is reduced from five to three months. Under the bill, in case one fails to appear for expert evaluation, the courts are given
