LONDON, April 24 (Hina) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and

sector, Croatia's finance minister said in London on Tuesday.
Croatia has stabilised its macroeconomic conditions and introduced
a restrictive fiscal policy which emphasises saving in public
expenditure, Minister Mato Crkvenac said during a presentation of
Croatia's economic possibilities, which was held as part of EBRD's
annual assembly.
Prospects of development are favourable, he asserted.
According to Allan Pilloux, an EBRD director, Croatia has been
granted the highest number of loans in the private sector, per
capita, among the 27 countries the EBRD is engaged in. He is
confident private investors will be able to recognise this and
choose Croatia for their investments.
Croatia's Economy Minister Goranko Fizulic pointed to the need of
stepping up privatisation. According to the vice governor of the
central bank, Boris Vujcic, the currency policy is stable and no
major surprises should be feared.
Participants in a panel debate were interested in the privatisation
of Croatian Telecom (HT), and the subsidising of small and medium-
sized tourism-related businesses. The Croatian side said the
second stage of HT's privatisation should be expected in the
autumn.
Finance Minister Crkvenac will act as vice president of the EBRD
assembly until the next conference.
