ZAGREB, March 7 (Hina) - The leader of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS), Drazen Budisa, told reporters in the parliament building on Wednesday the ideas about the cantonisation of Bosnia-Herzegovina he had presented in an
interview with the 'Globus' weekly were prevailing among political parties and politicians in Croatia but also among Bosnia-Herzegovina Croats. "Acknowledging everything the international community has done, we have established that the Dayton Agreement needs to be further built and amended and that the time has come for a debate on the new organisation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, based on experience and the latest events," Budisa said. Budisa believes the plan, under which Bosnia-Herzegovina would be constituted as a federal state with 12 or 14 cantons and have a two-chamber parliament, can be the basis for the stabilisation of the country as a state of equal peoples and citizens. ZAGREB, March 7 (Hina) - The leader of the Croatian Social Liberal
Party (HSLS), Drazen Budisa, told reporters in the parliament
building on Wednesday the ideas about the cantonisation of Bosnia-
Herzegovina he had presented in an interview with the 'Globus'
weekly were prevailing among political parties and politicians in
Croatia but also among Bosnia-Herzegovina Croats.
"Acknowledging everything the international community has done, we
have established that the Dayton Agreement needs to be further
built and amended and that the time has come for a debate on the new
organisation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, based on experience and the
latest events," Budisa said.
Budisa believes the plan, under which Bosnia-Herzegovina would be
constituted as a federal state with 12 or 14 cantons and have a two-
chamber parliament, can be the basis for the stabilisation of the
country as a state of equal peoples and citizens. This would
facilitate the cooperation between Croatia and Bosnia-
Herzegovina, which is Croatia's national interest, he added.
The head of the parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs, Zdravko
Tomac, believes that Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and the
international community could reach an agreement on the
cantonisation proposal.
Tomac judges the proposal systematic and clear and believes time is
ripe for a public debate on the issue.
Croatian People's Party's (HNS) president Vesna Pusic said the
cantonisation proposal was "a step further than the Dayton, which
was a project for putting an end to the war." She holds the
initiative "a project for stabilising national institutions."
Commenting on announcements about an international conference on
Bosnia-Herzegovina, which could be heard in parliamentary back-
corridors talk, Pusic said one should "consider the modalities of
the organisation of such a conference. The conference should be
preceded by intense diplomatic activity," she said.
