PULA-GAS-Okoliš/ekologija HIGH CONCENTRATION OF GAS RECORDED IN PULA AGAIN PULA, Jan 25 (Hina) - Following Friday's underground gas blast, an outstandingly high concentration of gas was recorded in downtown Pula again on Thursday.
Residents in the Monvidal part of the northern Adriatic city made a report to the fire-fighting unit around 10 a.m. Intervention units of the city gasworks, the county crime police, an investigating judge of the Istra county court and the deputy state prosecutor arrived on the scene immediately. According to Investigating Judge Eugen Pustijanac, there is no danger of a new blast for the time being. For security reasons, however, the police closed four streets for traffic. Mayor Giancarlo Zufic was also on the scene, telling reporters the gasworks' supervisory committee decided and the gasworks assembly agreed to appoint Lenko Uravic, the head of the county's economy department, as new gasworks director.
