PULA PULA, Jan 19 (Hina) - Three persons were seriously injured and scores of cars were damaged in an underground explosion of the municipal gas pipeline in the northern Croatian coastal town of Pula on Friday afternoon. The blast,
which happened at 03.20 pm in the section between Rivijera Hotel and the business centre of Sijan, created deep craters and damaged the road and manholes on it along 500 metres. According to unofficial reports, the explosion was caused by a glitch in the town's gas pipeline which led to uncontrolled leakage of gas into the sewage system. An on-the-spot investigation is under way. Spokeswoman for Istria County police scheduled a news conference in front of the damaged business offices on Friday evening.(hina) ms
