Gerdzikov and a Bulgarian parliamentary delegation are on a two-day
official return visit to Croatia.
Tomcic pointed to the two countries' good cooperation in all fields
and expressed hope that Bulgaria and Croatia would become full
members of the European Union in 2007.
The Croatian parliament president and his Bulgarian counterpart
also discussed possible regional cooperation given that Bulgaria
initiated the so-called Balkan initiative in 1997, which today is
called the initiative for cooperation among Southeast European
countries, in which Croatia has the observer status.
According to Tomcic, it was decided that it was not necessary to
institutionalise the initiative because both countries advocated
individual approach to the EU.
Gerdzikov said Zagreb and Sofia had identical national objectives
on the foreign political plan, namely to join NATO and the European
Union.
