The nominated vice president candidates are Luka Trconic, Ljubica
Lalic, and Petar Jurusic.
The party's head committee will vote on all the nominations
tomorrow.
Also today, the HSS presidency supported an electoral bill the
party forwarded into parliamentary procedure.
Tomcic said the ruling coalition parties had agreed on a moratorium
on all electoral bills until January 15, by which time they should
try to harmonise their views. According to current debates, this
does not look promising, he said.
Tomcic expects parliamentary elections will be held between April
and November 2003.
Also today, the HSS presidency formulated the party's
privatisation concept which will be sent to the coalition parties
next week.
Tomcic said that significant progress had been made in resolving
the conflict between the HSS and the Social Democrats regarding
privatisation.
He resolutely dismissed speculation that the HSS was just waiting
for an opportunity to leave the ruling coalition.
The HSS will support the coalition as long as it estimates that
imputations are not too serious or humiliating for the HSS and as
long as the HSS' vote is heard and its constructive proposals are
accepted, he said but added that if these two components were lost,
the party would not hesitate to leave the coalition.
