parties. #L#
On Sunday Tomcic sharply reacted to accusations of the HSS by the
SDP in regard to privatisation models for and the treatment of
agribusinesses. An unnamed SDP official said that during talks with
the SDP on privatisation last Friday, the HSS had asked for an
additional 0.2 billion euros for the agribusinesses.
Tomcic strongly refuted these charges on Sunday. A day later Racan
confirmed that the meeting between the SDP and HSS did not mention
any specific amounts nor was there any mention of 0.2 billion
euros.
As sources close to Racan reported, Racan on Sunday assured Tomcic
over the phone that statements made at an SDP convention in
Tuheljske Toplice, where most accusations against the HSS were
made, were not said as was reported in public, and that the conflict
between the two strategic partners in the ruling coalition had been
exaggerated.
The meeting between Racan and Tomcic is scheduled for Wednesday
morning, while the heads of the parties of the ruling coalition
should meet in the afternoon to discuss strategies for
privatisation.
The president of the Croatian People's Party, Vesna Pusic, will not
attend the meeting as she is currently accompanying President
Stjepan Mesic on an official visit to India.
