The government said in a statement the problems of the fire-
fighting sector were not only financial. The government has also
proposed drawing up a comprehensive analysis of the sector's
financing and functioning.
The fire-fighters' union leader, Mladen Magdic, said today the main
reason for the protest was the 27.4-percent cut in state budget
funds to be allocated to fire-fighting units in 2003.
