SISAK, Nov 22 (Hina) - The Croatian Association of Unions (HUS)
Council discussed at a session in Sisak on Friday the recent
protests of the Sisak Ironworks employees and requested that Vice-

vice-president Ozren Matijasevic told reporters. #L#
Matijasevic claims that "Linic is the architect of Croatia's
unsuccessful economic policy and the sole culprit for the decision
on initiating bankruptcy proceedings in the Sisak Ironworks, as
well as for initiating the process of privatisation in the company
during the bankruptcy proceedings".
Matijasevic also accused Linic of being "responsible for the
harmful contract to sell the Ironworks, whose results we have been
witnessing in the past several days".
"Linic advocates applying a bankruptcy policy to help the economy
recover, but he uses double standards," the HUS vice-president
said.
The union also demands the resignation of Interior Minister Sime
Lucin due to inappropriate police intervention against the
Ironworks employees in Sisak.
"We warn politicians in Croatia that it is high time for them to
direct their attention and efforts to solving crucial issues of the
Croatian society, which are the right to work and a life worthy of
man, which, after all, is guaranteed by the Constitution,"
Matijasevic said.
Speaking about the protest staged by the employees of the Ironworks
and its Caprag Overhaul section, HUS president Zdenko Mucnjak said
that "union activities have been successful", and expressed hope
that "the end result will be satisfactory as well, and that an
adequate solution for the Sisak Ironworks will be found".
