ZAGREB, Nov 28 (Hina) - A new draft law on Croatian Radio and
Television (HRT) envisages that the HRT would be one public
institution with three units: Radio, Television and Music
Production. #L#
The three units would enjoy relative business and financial
independence within annual financial plans of this institution,
Premier Ivica Racan told reporters after today's meeting of leaders
of the ruling coalition parties, who harmonised their views on a
final version of the draft law on the HRT.
With regard to the management, the HRT would have the council,
director and governing board.
The council will be appointed by the Croatian parliament after a
public invitation for applications for seats in this body. The
council cannot include either persons from the governing board or
MPs, but it will consist of some public figures, Racan said.
The director will be chosen by the council after the public
invitation for applications for this office.
The governing board will consist of the HRT director, directors of
Television, Radio and Music Production, and representatives of
workers' council.
Announcing that the latest draft should be added to the agenda of
the government's session next Thursday, Racan said the latest
developments in the HRT rendered the entire job more urgent.
