ZAGREB, Nov 27 (Hina) - Croatian Television and Croatian Radio should remain united in one public institution, but with clearly defined responsibilities and autonomy in work, unofficial sources have reported to be the conclusion of a meeting of leaders of the ruling and opposition parliamentary benches on Wednesday. #L# According to the unofficial information, the Radio and Television would remain one institution in the formal and legal sense, with strictly defined scope of activities. However, the new draft law on the HRT (Croatian Radio and Television) would remain open for the possibility of the two institutions becoming independent companies in the future. The Croatian parliament would have a bigger role in the HRT Council than it has now. The leaders of the five ruling parties will discuss the draft law on Thursday, when it should receive a final version of the bill from the Culture Ministry. Unofficial sources said the ruling coalition leaders on Wednesday informally spoke about a dispute which arose in the public due to the draft constitutional law on the rights of national minorities. As a participant of the meeting said, some coalition members asked that certain government members and the strongest party in the coalition "exercise self-restraint", stressing that their views of the constitutional law on minorities are not the views of the ruling coalition.
