ZAGREB, Oct 18 (Hina) - The Central Headquarters of Homeland War
Veterans believes that in the past few days a campaign has been
waged by the Government and regime-influenced media who wish to
create a false picture in Croatia trying to persuade the people that
the option is either to extradite General Janko Bobetko to the UN
war crimes tribunal or Croatia will be faced with sanctions. #L#
It is obvious that government ruled by (Premier Ivica) Racan,
(President Stjepan) Mesic and (Sabor President Zlatko) Tomcic with
the backing of regime-influenced media wishes to create and excuse
for the failure of their subservient politics and to shift the guilt
for their incapability onto Gen. Bobetko and his alleged
stubbornness, a press release by this association of war veterans
noted. The press release was signed by the association's president,
Colonel Mirko Condic.
Confusion amongst the people should be intensified by insinuations
that Racan wishes to introduce via his close associates who have
claimed that the 83-year-old retired general had allegedly agreed
with Racan to go into hospital, the release said. Condic branded
such information on Bobetko's decision as notary nonsense and a
lie.
The association demands the Racan confirms that any speculation
with regard to the Bobetko case which has lately been announced in
the media, has nothing to do with the truth.
Condic, asserted that General Bobetko will win this battle too and
not only for himself but for the future of Croatia.
Mirko Condic visited General Bobetko in his home on Friday.
