SBHS president Damir Juric told reporters after a meeting in
Bizovac on Saturday that the state fund for regional development
had not yielded the expected results and that regional parties
wanted such funds to be established on the regional level.
They also suggest that the funds be financed with income from the
privatisation of regional state-owned and public companies, Juric
said, adding that the basic goal was the country's balanced
development.
IDS secretary-general Emil Soldatic said that the decentralisation
of funds would improve the transparency of the performance of those
who make decisions, making them more accessible.
PGS leader Nikola Ivanis said Croatia should not be decentralised
only because of political reasons but also due to the admission of
its regions into the regional funds of the Council of Europe and the
European Union.
