In an interview published by Banja Luka's "Nezavisne novine" paper,
the US Ambassador for the first time since the October 5 elections
publicly conveyed his government's stands stressing that
Washington had no doubts as to which parties in Bosnia were reform-
orientated, and which were not.
It is in the interest of Bosnian citizens to begin drawing closer to
European associations as soon as possible. Moderate parties, not
national parties, are the best partners in this venture, Bond said,
adding that this was also the European Union's stance.
He added that it was encouraging that there was a possibility of
establishing a coalition of moderate parties, especially in the
Bosnian Serb entity.
Bond did not hide the fact that the USA wished for a government in
this entity which would not include the Serb Democratic Party.
The ambassador called on representatives of moderate parties to
reach an agreement on post-electoral alliance.
