"I believe that the doubt about further steps regarding general
Bobetko is completely unnecessary," Tomcic told reporters ahead of
his official visit to China.
"I know for a fact that permanent medical supervision is necessary
because of his health condition. It is really difficult to comment
on why those close to him are obstructing such a move," Tomcic
said.
"I believe that no calculations should be made when it comes to a
man's health. If his condition demands that he be hospitalised,
regardless of the further steps in relations between Croatia and
the Hague-based tribunal, he should go to the hospital," Tomcic
said.
He declined to answer a reporter's question whether he would lobby
with Chinese officials in order that Croatia receives China's
support in a possible discussion within the U.N. regarding
Croatia's cooperation with the International criminal Tribunal for
the former Yugoslavia.
"It's too early to discuss this," Tomcic said.
