CROATIAN PARLIAMENT PRESIDENT TRAVELS TO CHINA

ZAGREBM Oct 20 (Hina) - Croatian parliament president Zlatko Tomcic on Sunday travelled to China for an official visit with an aim to advance political and economic cooperation between Croatia and China. #L# "It's been ten years since the establishment of relations between Croatia and China.... China is one of the countries for which we can say that it has no open political bilateral issues," Tomcic told reporters before the departure. The parliament president, however, said he was dissatisfied with the two countries economic cooperation. He declined to answer a reporter's question whether he would lobby with Chinese officials in order that Croatia receives China's support in a possible discussion within the U.N. regarding Croatia's cooperation with the International criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. "It's too early to discuss this," Tomcic said. As the head of a Croatian delegation, Tomcic will visit Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong. He is scheduled to meet Chinese top government and parliament officials. (hina)it
