Tomcic on Saturday refuted an article in Zagreb's daily "Jutarnji
list" which claims that a company of which Tomcic is an owner of
shares, mostly works for ministries and Zagreb City. #L#
"I would like for somebody competent to instigate an investigation
to establish whether there is anything illegal, immoral or
unconscientious going on," Tomcic told Hina, adding his conscience
was clear.
He added there were "indications about other similar acts against
him and other party colleagues".
Tomcic, also the president of the Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS),
said that these acts "indicate that some strange electoral campaign
has started".
In a text entitled "State is Chief Employer of Tomcic's Capital
ing.", the daily writes that the company, Capital ing, in which
Tomcic has 22 percent of shares, has in the past three years signed
12 contracts with Zagreb City in three years, worth 668,889 kuna.
The daily also writes that all contracts were concluded via tenders
which need not be published in the media. According to the paper,
Capital ing. has in the past ten years concluded 85 percent of its
business with state institutions and companies.
Of the total 336 business transactions with the state, the company
received most from Zagreb City (178(, the daily writes.
